Prom Fest 2004 Kicks off Prom Season with Chic Fashions at Parson's Exhibition Center
January 14 2004--To mark the beginning of prom season, Prom Guide's "Prom Fest 2004" comes to the Parson's Exhibition Center, 560 Seventh Ave. on Saturday, January 17, 2004 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Prom Fest 2004 is an annual fashion show that highlights exclusive prom apparel never seen before in public.
About a thousand teens are expected to attend Prom Guide's Prom Fest 2004 sponsored by Hot97. The 2004 teen models will catwalk wearing some of the season's most dynamic colors of sunset, tropic blue, and tangerine in designs by Mike Benet. Other featured collections include Tiffany Designs, the Nadine Collection by Bridal Originals and collections by Magic New York City. In tuxedos, the single-breasted contemporary coat with a square-cut will be featured in the After Six repertoire by Men's Apparel Group. Lord West will display tuxedos by Ecko and Perry Ellis while Formalwear International presents Jean Yves. More men's formal wear by Andrew Fezza will be shown by Formal One.
As Prom Fest's fashion coordinator, Sharon ‘Magic' Jordan, an internationally acclaimed model whose face has graced the pages of Essence and Vogue and who has strutted the runways from New York to Milan, says that teens are looking for the "bling bling"—small sequins in clear looks, rhinestones, and plenty of paillettes. "Big sequins are too dated and traditional ball gowns are a thing of the past", she says. "Girls are looking to the red carpet and are taking notes on the glamorous, chic, sleek looks of Hollywood's A-list with cut outs, peek-a-boos and unexpected fabric combinations."
One of Prom Guide's featured cover models, Anna Karwacka of Murray Bergtraum High School for Business and Careers in New York agrees. "I'm really thinking of buying the red strapless dress with all the tiny sequins to the Prom—the same one that I wore on the cover of Prom Guide." She says that her friends are excited about Prom Fest too because they want to get ideas for the prom and see her on the cover of Prom Guide Magazine before it hits high schools. In addition to advanced copies of Prom Guide magazine, exclusive prom fashion, and giveaways, teens will rub shoulders with celebrity guests, see musical performances and enjoy a free buffet. Garfield Bowen, publisher, says, "Next to the actual prom, this event gives teens another opportunity to experience the prom excitement."
