The Society of Recovering Sorority Girls Launch Project Cinderella for a Northern Virginia School District

WASHINGTON, DC April 26, 2004--The Society of Recovering Sorority Girls, though its founders, Kristina "Morgan" Rose and Deandra "Brooksie" Brooks announce the launch of "Project Cinderella." "Project Cinderella" is a formal dress donation drive that will provide high school girls in need with a dress to wear to their school's prom.

"It's very sad to know that some girls will not be attending their high school prom because they can't afford to," said Morgan. "Project Cinderella is intended to alleviate one of the larger costs so more young women can experience their first formal social event.

Morgan and Brooksie hope to collect 100 dresses this year. They are personally collecting the dresses and will deliver them to the Arlington County School District by May 15. The school district will then make the dresses available to students in need of such assistance.

"Looking back, I have great memories of the proms I attended," added Brooksie. "Economic circumstances shouldn't rob a young girl of her special night and the memories she takes from it."

Morgan and Brooksie request that donated dresses be in good condition and dry-cleaned. Gently used prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses and formal wear are all acceptable donations. All donors will receive income tax receipts from the Arlington County School District.

"Do you have a dress you would like to donate?" asked Morgan. "Some friend may have promised you that you would wear that bridesmaid dress again, but have you? When was the last time you even tried on the formal dresses in your closet? Do you honestly know if they still fit?"

"Clean out your closet and be a fairy godmother this prom season," urged Brooksie. "Donating a dress will make a young girl's prom dreams come true and allow you to buy a fabulous new replacement dress guilt free."
